Photography Work

"Fragments"

Above is a photo series I created in my first year of A-Levels titled "Fragments". These pieces were influenced by artist Brno Del Zou, whose photography consists of distorted portraits of people using a variety of different fragments of their face. Using his style, I created my own photo series, taking various images of my friends in which I edited by layering additional images of their feature on top of each other. "Fragments" captures an abstract perception of the human form, and how emotion can still be conveyed through the limitation and layering of facial features. My images portray the story of the chaos within the mind, and how we manipulate our faces to hide our inner emotions. The layering of the images represents the fragments of the mind, and the many emotions a person feels all while masking a front.

AS Artwork

The work below are examples of my work from my AS Art & Design Portfolio, in which I studied Portraiture in which I developed into distortion.

A- Level Artwork

This year for my individual project in A-Level art, I have decider to study the topic of "The Roaring Twenties". So far through this topic I have been able to explore areas of the 1920s such as architecture, fashion and photography. This has allowed me to create art in response to my love of the book & film "The Great Gatsby". From this I have created art in response to the ideas and themes of the book & film, to further my research. The fashion of the 1920s is something I've always been fascinated with, especially the costume designs depicted in the The Great Gatsby (2013), as well as the 1974 version. Because of this, I have created my own designs in response to the film, with influences from both the scenes and inspiration from famous 1920s designer Coco Chanel. I believe costume influences the narrative of a film, as the audience gain a perspective of what that character is like through the clothes they wear. Below are some examples of the costume designs I have created in response to the film The Great Gatsby.
